Reconstruction Process

The mansion, located in Yeşilköy, Bakırköy, was completely demolished in 1980; a reinforced concrete reconstruction was built in place of the original wooden structure. During this process, the original wooden details and fine craftsmanship that formed the character of the building were largely lost.

Within the scope of this project, the original architectural identity of the mansion has been recreated in all its details, based on archival photographs taken before the building was demolished and a simple survey prepared in 1980. The four-story, twin-structure wooden building has been examined in terms of its facade design, decorative elements, and fine woodwork, reflecting the architectural features of the period.

Reconstruction of the original wooden structure based on period data and environmental references.

In preparing the reconstruction project, extensive historical research was conducted to understand the architectural features of the period in which the building was constructed; the existing building fabric in the surrounding area was examined and used as a reference; and buildings from the same period located in Yeşilköy were evaluated comparatively. Based on all the data obtained, a holistic reconstruction approach was developed that prioritizes the historical and architectural values of the building.
